OnePlus embraces the developer community by offering a seeding program to help kickstart custom ROM development. OnePlus had stopped the incentive and stopped sending devices to developers but promised the decision wasn’t final.
True to their word, the company opened up the device seeding program but with a revised selection of developers.
With access to the bootloader, and the ability to relock the bootloader without risk of losing the warranty, the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T has become the go-to device for developers to experiment.
As such, we’ve seen a number of ROMs emerge from a healthy developer community, resulting in the device receiving ROMs such as the unofficial LineageOS 16.0, unofficial CarbonROM cr-7.0, unofficial CypherOS 7.0 and official crDroid.
All the ROMs are based on Android Pie and offer a wide range of features that build on stock Android and OxygenOS. You can check out the latest ROMs over at XDA in the OnePlus 6T forum.
